SEAL REPLACEMENT:
Close seacock. Remove the pump from the engine. If pump has drive gear remove it. Remove the pump face plate, gasket and impeller. Remove drive side snap ring. If pump has a wearplate in the rear of impeller bore remove cam screw, cam and wearplate Clean sealant from the cam and threads of cam screw. Remove the shaft with bearings from the pump housing by pressing on the impeller end of the shaft with a small press. Do NOT use a hammer to remove the shaft. Note the alignment and orientation of old seals, the oil lip seal, if used will be destroyed during the shaft removal. Remove the damaged oil seal and discard. Press out the carbon half of the water seal whith a small press from the drive side. Discard the old seal inspect the housing, bearings and shaft for wear and corrosion Replace as necessary install a new iol seal, if used in the housing making sure the open spring side faces the oil cavity (drive side). Install the bearing(s), spacer if used and snap ring, Install the shaft into the housing from the impeller side If your pump has a snap ning install it over shaft making sure it seats in its groove. Install washer onto the shaft from the impeller end until it stop against the snap ring or shoulder on the shaft. Install the while ceramic portion of the mechanical seal on the impeller end of the shaft (rubber ring side first). Slide ceramic ring down the shaft until it is resting againts the water. install the carbon ring into the pump housing by sliding it over the impeller end of the shaft (black carbon side first) until it touches the pump housing then press the seal into the housing until it is flush with the surface of the pump housing. Use a press to install the carbon ring. Do NOT use a hammer. Reinstall the wear plate, cam, cam screw, impeller, gasket or o-ring, face plate and drive gear. Install pump back onto the engine using a new o-ring, if used. Install water lines. Open sea cock. Run engine. Check for water leaks at hose fittings and water weep hole in pump body.
